Freiburg im Breisgau

After a nourishing German breakfast we visited Freiburg. The weather could not have been better. The sun shone brightly all day. We did a city tour of the greenest city in Germany-the city was remarkably absent of cars. The tour guide recounted wonderful stories about the open drains on the sides of the streets, the significance of the colour of buildings and explanations about the stained glass windows in the cathedral. A market place operates on a daily basis. Vegetable and fruit stalls were selling lots of fresh produce and the flower stalls were brilliantly coloured -tulips being the flower of the moment. There were so many wurst options for lunch. To work lunch off we climbed the steps of the cathedral to get a nice view over the city. Many bought souvenirs of the area and we visited a supermarket where we stocked up on snacks. Snow still lying around, students built a snowman after dinner.
